I save chairs.
No really I do. I have a habit of feeling sorry for furniture in second hand shops as evidenced by our mismatched collection of furniture . Recently on one of my endless journeys around the Adelaide Hills looking for teacups, I stumbled across this little guy.

It’s legs had been cut down so it was quite short, it’s paint was falling off and it was all alone at the back of the shed. I overheard someone mention that it would be alright for kindling! So of course I had to take it home.
Once home I cleaned it off, dug out my trusty white paint and brush and got to work.

(Excuse the mass of Autumn leaves! The liquid amber tree sheds them as quickly as I rake them!)

And now it’s inside under the loft window and housing one of my gorgeous rabbits from Dragon House of Yuen. And next to the calendar I found in a stash of my Grandma’s treasures! It’s from the 70′s and has oh so cute drawings of colourful girls.
It’s tricky using colours inside such a dark house (hence why I stick with white paint usually) but I have more exciting plans for my next piece so stay tuned!

(Apologies for the photo – my beloved camera is at Canon’s hospital!)
ZP xo
Nice transformation and it now looks so at home! I have a chair thing too so can totally relate
Sorry about your camera, hope it makes a full recovery.
Do you also write captions on furniture? This one would be perfect for a Goldie Locks quote ” not too hard, not too soft, just right!”
I love how you are giving old pieces a new twist – you’re very clever.
Thanks Gaby.
I think it looks at home too.
Thanks Sue, that’s such a great idea! I love the goldilocks quote too. Hmm, now I’m keen to get out my black paint to write that!
goodness – writing on chairs too would be great Christabel! and Empress looks so very content
